Journal Policies
The journal follows recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure the rigorousness of its review and publication processes.
Editorial Policies
Journal strictly considers original submissions that have not been previously published or submitted elsewhere. Prior or duplicate publications are not permitted, including abstracts published in conference proceedings. Authors are responsible for disclosing any prior submissions or reports that could be considered duplicate or prior publication to JMR.
All manuscripts undergo thorough evaluation based on their individual merits. They are subject to peer review, typically involving at least two reviewers. The comments from reviewers, along with the editorial board's decision, are communicated to the authors for further action. This process ensures the quality and integrity of publications in JMR.
Peer Review Policy
Journal employs a double-blind peer review process, ensuring anonymity for both reviewers and authors throughout the evaluation. Each submission undergoes an initial review by an editor to assess adherence to editorial policies and minimum quality standards. If deemed suitable, the manuscript is forwarded to two reviewers, with all identifying information removed.
Reviewers' feedback to the editors remains confidential and is anonymized before being shared with the authors. The Editorial Board then considers the reviewers' comments to make a final decision on manuscript acceptability, communicating this decision along with referees' reports to the authors. Acceptance may be contingent upon satisfactory resolution of any significant revisions proposed.
Manuscripts are typically reviewed promptly, with an average review duration of 4-6 weeks from submission to decision. Upon acceptance, manuscripts are published online within 2-3 weeks. The peer review process adheres to the guidelines set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), with additional guidance provided for reviewers.
Corrections and Retractions Policy
Journal is committed to rectifying errors and maintaining the integrity of published articles in accordance with COPE guidelines for Retraction and Correction. We recognize that honest errors are inevitable in scientific publishing and necessitate the publication of corrections when identified.
Corrections will be promptly issued upon confirmation of errors, and the original version may or may not be removed from the public domain. In rare cases, articles may be retracted to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the scientific literature. Retractions are not intended as punitive measures against authors but serve to alert readers to publications containing serious errors or unreliable conclusions. Retracted articles will be accompanied by a retraction notice, and their availability in the public domain may vary.

Any issues detected by the software will be addressed by a follow-up investigation in line with ICMJE guidelines and if plagiarism is detected the manuscript may be rejected, corrected or retracted, as appropriate. Plagiarism indication should not be more than 20%.
Research Ethics Policy

Ethical Approval- For any study involving human subjects or samples, authors should provide an Ethical Approval statement in the Declarations part of their manuscripts to state that the study is approved by an institutional ethics committee and complies with the Declaration of Helsinki. The researchers must have conducted the study according to the approved protocol and acceptable research standards.
Consent to Participate- For any study involving human subjects, written informed consent to participate should be obtained from the participants. Authors should provide a statement to attest that they have received and archived the written consent, and such consent can be available if requested.

Clinical Trials Registration-
The journal follow the clinical trial guidelines defined by International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). The journal requires registration of all clinical trials.
According to the policy set by the ICMJE, clinical trials must be registered with a public trials registry before enrolling the first patient. ICMJE defines clinical trials as research projects that prospectively assign individuals or groups to interventions, with or without comparison or control groups, to investigate the cause-and-effect relationship between a health-related intervention and a health outcome. Such interventions include drugs, surgical procedures, devices, behavioral treatments, educational programs, dietary interventions, quality improvement initiatives, and changes in care processes.
The Journal of Phytopharmacology mandates that all clinical trials be registered with databases accessible to the public at no cost, open to all prospective registrants, managed by nonprofit organizations, have mechanisms to ensure the validity of registration data, and be electronically searchable. When submitting manuscripts, authors must include the unique registration number in the abstract as proof of registration, along with the name of the registration database.
JMR accepts registrations from specific clinical trial registries, in addition to those listed on the ICMJE website. These include:
Authors reporting on randomized clinical trials are required to adhere to the published CONSORT guidelines. The recommended CONSORT checklist must be completed and submitted to the journal along with the manuscript. Additionally, authors should include the recommended trial flow diagram as a figure. These requirements ensure that clinical trial reporting in JMR aligns with best practices, promoting transparency and accuracy in research dissemination. For further details or inquiries regarding these guidelines, authors are encouraged to contact the editorial office.
Animal Research
Any research involving animals should be approved by an animal care and use committee and conducted according to the approved protocol and acceptable research standards for animal experimentation. Authors should provide an ethical statement at the end of their manuscripts to state that the study was approved by certain animal care and use committee. The EU Directive 2010/63/EU guidelines for animal experiments will be followed.
